Urbex

Some of you may be wondering what exactly I've been up to lately. Well, I have been getting really into two different things, I've been getting more into my design work, and Urbex, which is subject of this particular post.

    URBEX

Shortened from URBANEX meaning Urban Exploration. The URBEX adventure is enthralling, addictive, and oft misunderstood.
URBEX gives me that rush I refuse to live without.

Anyway. I have always loved going into abandoned places. You can see evidence of this periodically appearing on my blog. Lately I have loosely combined it with elements of Parkour and FreeRunning in order to really find new places I never would have been able to explore otherwise.

During the entire course of this activity I am of course, barefoot, for safety you know?

So without further delay, pictures of places I have found and explored completely barefoot. Again proving to the world, "It's easy without shoes!"

There are thousands more pictures of the places I go, but I just figured I would give you a few highlights to give you an idea of what I have been doing lately. You may notice I have grown my hair out quite a bit, but I have recently had it trimmed to a more traditional (for me) look.

In other news I went down to DC with my father and a friend of ours to visit the Vietnam wall. I was barefoot in our nations capital. Talked with secret service on several occasions and not once did they point out my feet. Much appreciated. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!

  1. Reminds me of a newspaper article. In 1967, 11 barefoot hippies wanted a tour of the white house - they were at first turned away to "clean up" a bit. They came back after bathing and putting on cleaner clothes, and then were allowed to tour the white house barefoot.
The place around Washington DC that I saw the most people going barefoot was in Georgetown, but that was about 20 years ago. I wonder if they still do it there now. I doubt it.

  2. Great pictures, very atmospheric.
Impressive to see you going barefoot through all the debris on the ground, definitely better for grip and climbing :-) How much do you feel of the glass and other sharps on the ground nowadays ?
A good urbanexploration site in the UK is Pyestock - very impressive, I have visited it with work and it is breathtaking, though sad to see all that engineering and science going to ruin :-( Also sad to be wearing boots - though at the moment I think my soles are a lot softer than yours !

  3. Amazing way of life... Sorry, I haven't browsed the older posts (yet...), but do you always live barefoot? I mean, how do you manage cold for exemple, or bad weathers?

"[...] barefoot, for safety you know?" That kills me ^^
